It’s crazy but still there are many many individuals who don’t take logo design seriously, not willing to pay good and get a worthy design. Why? A logo is the face of your brand, come on! Yes there are tons of online services (including free ones) that will help you build-your-own-logo in a few minutes, regardless of your artistic skills and yes it is fast (and sometimes even FREE!). But hey, if you are serious about your business – don’t take your logo for granted. You’d never want your child be faceless huh?
Why a self-made logo isn’t good?
When starting something serious, my rule of the thumb is: Don’t mess with things that you’re not competent in. Of course, if you have some talent inside and you feel it then you can go to some courses, hire some teacher and upgrade yourself and become a pro. But it is better to submit your car to a professional technician so he gets things fixed, right? You won’t use your pliers to remove a head-cracking tooth out in your bathroom – call dentist. And so on and on.
Unprofessional logos:

But you are self confident and stubborn as a mule and made an “ok” logo. Here are some of the probable properties of unprofessional design:
1) Amateur look: Unconsciously, your [potential] customers get a feeling that your company/business is just a bunch of amateurs not taking seriously their own services, then “how can they meet my demands?” “how unprofessional they will deal with my business?” etc.
2) Lack of recognition: if your logo does not reflect your field of business, if the colors are not used properly, if the logo itself is not easy-to-remember, well then, say goodbye to your clients. It doesn’t have to fully tell customers about your business, but still it has to be meaningful and recognizable among thousands of others. Since they won’t remember (even if they want to) your logo, because the logo was not truly connected with the services you provide or just the whole image was uh…what it was like…?
If your logo is positive on those two issues, there is no need to continue.
Solution: leave it to artists, because they got the “feel” that is really needed for any design. Can’t afford one? Then you need to revise your business plan, since you just will not grow without a “face”! Plus, today there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of low-price offers on the Net (including mine).
Professional logos:

Different feeling, huh?
