Easy Steps to Create an Animated favicon in Photoshop

Azamat "Bohed" E.

A favicon is a small (16×16 pixels) icon/image that is shown in the address bar to the left of your address. It is an important part of your website’s individuality. Just as logo. So don’t you underestimate it.

In this tutorial I will show how to create an animated favicon, but first I will show how to create a regular/static favicon for your site.

Keep in mind that animated favicons are supported only by Firefox for now. As for the static ones, all major browsers recognize them, since it’s a normal .ico Windows file.

Keep in mind II: you can’t just rename some favicon.jpg to favicon.ico and use it as a real favicon on your website. It won’t work that way.

I decided to write this tutorial when I ran into some web site [I don't remember which] and it just caught my eye. So if you want to stand out of the crowd, you may want to make an animated favicon. Up to you. Read more »

Azamat "Bohed" E.

Photoshop changed the design industry. You can manipulate photos as much as you can and want, limited only with your capabilities. But some dudes, wanna-be-designers or just not-so-careful guys screw their projects up pretty well.

When you are retouching a picture you have to be careful about details. Most common mistakes are seen in anatomic mishaps. You will see that mostly designers forget to remove unwanted parts and there come the third arms, legs or missing legs and so on and so on.

Sometimes you won’t even believe that such a mistake could ever be done. So obvious!

So, come on guys, we are given a talent, a great tool called Photoshop, only thing to do is be careful and use your mind. Look at those awful mistakes and keep them in mind next time you start manipulating a photo! Read more »

50 WWF Print Ads That Will Make You Think Deeper

Naika E.

In the field of print advertisement, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is the trend setter for sure. Their print ads are always attractive, creative and just nicely executed artworks.

I maybe not the biggest environment protector, but whenever I look at those WWF ads I start to think about the world and the whole Mother nature and how we, as humans, the superb creatures on the face of the Earth don’t really care about the future at all.

WWF designers [or those who designed those print ads for WWF] did their homework the best. All criteria are followed: they attract attention, they are creative, they make you ponder, they deliver the message in a split second and the texts are just great. And I just love the logo! Read more »

How To Create a YouTube Partner Banner with Links in Photoshop

Azamat "Bohed" E.

Recently, one of our customers ordered a YouTube banner for their Partner page. And I decided to prepare a tutorial for our readers on how to make a YT banner with links using Photoshop. Note that you have to be a “partner” to setup a channel banner like this.

In this tutorial, I will focus more on the coding than on graphics, because you will need a little html code to enable links in your banner. You will need only basic knowledge of HTML to insert image mapcode. And you don’t have to be a coder.

Just follow the steps and you will see that it’s not a hard task. Read more »

Touch-Screen Fun:Finger-painted Logos

Azamat "Bohed" E.

Ever tried finger-painting on your touch phones? If you didn’t – try it, it’s fun! A bit cumbersome [new word in my English:) ] simply because it doesn’t draw right under your fingertip, it’s…uhh..you have to try it to understand.
One day I got so much bored that I grabbed my wife’s Nokia N97 mini and started finger-drawing some logos just as I remembered them. Not too perfect they went…but..anyways, take a look. Heh. Read more »
