A Motorbike I Made from Old PC Mice

Hey guys, I hope you’ve missed our posts already. So here’s another one, but this time it won’t be about graphic design. Keep on and you’ll understand. It’s getting colder and colder here in Kyrgyzstan, and the colder it gets the more time I spend at home. It gets boring sometimes. That’s when some cool ideas come to my head. Like, hands get itchy to create something, since it starts to feel like the life is passing by…(what the hell??)

Anyways, my wife’s wireless mouse died recently and I had another dead mouse in my “old stuff” box and I was like, hey, I’ve seen some dudes make crazy things from old computer parts! Why not? And I got my hands on those two mice and started constructing… Read more »

My T-Shirt Design at Threadless. Help needed!

Everybody knows Threadless, right? So I submitted one of my T-shirt designs and it seems like they accepted it! But, it doesn’t end there. Once their staff accept a design, they give you 7 days to promote it and after that they will decide according to your scores. Visitors must vote for your design to get it printed, basically.

Ok. So I got it here on TrueKolor and I am asking our readers to help me get it printed. Straight up:)

So, if you’re feeling like you wanna help me win, please follow the link and vote! Thank you! And it will be superb if you share it as well.

Quick Tips on Speeding Up Photoshop CS5

Most of Photoshop users think they are getting the most of it without any settings changed. Well, I am not talking about monster machines, but those who work with Photoshop on average computers will find those tips useful.

Photoshop’s performance depends on your RAM in the first place, so the more RAM – the faster the workflow. At least, you will need 2GB of RAM to work with the program and still you will face “slow-downs” when working with many layers, high-res images and brushes. Moreover, if you have tons of fonts, it will slow down on startup.

So how to speed up your Photoshop CS5? Read more »

Beautiful Vexel ArtNowadays you may face the word more and more frequently, especially among digital artists, on design blogs, portfolio sites, etc. But what does it really mean – vexel?

Today I will try to explain the term, where it came from, what does it mean, how it’s made and show you some examples. Best for those who understand what does vector and raster mean.

Dragon Parade in Sundsvall

Dragon Parade in SundsvallToday I will take you a bit off the topic. However, we’re still talking about design. Ever wondered if dragons still exist? Yes they do. In Sundsvall, Sweden.
Every Summer a Dragon Parade takes place in city center. They place variously designed dragon sculptures in different places. There are like 40 or more different dragons. Every one of them is unique and represents some theme; you can see a basketball player dragon, one taking a bath in public, one with a gnome on its back and so on and so on.

The dragon has become the symbol of Sundsvall, representing their devastating past and triumphant move forward from the ashes. From high school mascots to store names, their presence can be found everywhere in the city.

But the most noticeable dragons are those of the Annual Dragon Parade. Read more »

A Nice Site Every Designer Must Bookmark

Inspiration is always vital. The Internet gives us many resources for inspiration, way too many, and there are thousands of crappy sites that we come across with during the search. The sites which you close after two seconds. They waste your time.

That’s why we use bookmarks. Every one of us has some bookmarked websites that we know are useful and guaranteed. But there’s always an interest for something new.

Today I was stumbling the web and a nice link list website came up. I’ve bookmarked it immediately, for it is a plain categorized list of inspiration links. As stated in their “about” section: “It is a website focusing on the best links for designers and developers. There are a lot of good and bad websites out there and we collect the high quality ones for you right here. Read more »
