Two Small Yet Useful Photoshop CS5 Tips

Photoshop TipsAs a Photoshop freak, I spend many hours everyday doing something, experimenting, working and just having fun with the software. And it’s been like that for many years. But I am still not a guru, it is impossible to know everything about Photoshop. And sometimes I come up with little sweet things that make me wonder how come I didn’t know about them before?

Sometimes a project gets piled up with many layers, way too many layers. After a while it becomes harder and harder to find the layer you need [I always forget to name them] and usually I don’t really delete an unsuccessful layer, just make it invisible and forget about it. Familiar?

Today I’ve found two little functions in Photoshop to get rid of unwanted layers.  You need to know them if you don’t! Read more »

Logo Hunting: Day One

Logo Hunting: Day OneDid you ever think about how many logos you are facing in a day? Most of us don’t realize the amount. Zillions of brands surround us like bacteria, which exist all over but we don’t see them.

So are the logos. It all starts with the first seconds of your day: you wake up, probably in a bed, which has a pillow, sheets, etc., and all those items have a lable. Check yours! Then you switch off the annoying alarm clock or most probably your alarm on mobile (which is a big brand itself), then you go to bathroom and brush your teeth (a toothbrush and a toothpaste with logos), shave and so on and on. It is a dozen logos already!

And then some one smart [I don't know who it was] invented a new trend in logo blogging, which you can see on many design blogs, titled mostly as “My day in logos” or alike. Read more »

Slogans/Taglines of The Most Famous Brands:Free Article

I’ve told about this article on 14th of March in Difference Between a Tagline and a Slogan. So keep in mind that this one is not a finished post, simply because I got so confused on the terminology and I just gave up on completion of the article.

Consider this as a giveaway article. Use it as you like.

The topic is really interesting and compelling one. Aren’t you curious about interesting facts and stories behind some of the most famous brands’ slogans/taglines? Like Nike: Just Do It. The whole world knows the Nike logo and the pretty tagline, but do you know when it was created and by whom?

So I was going to make a huge research on those historical facts, but got stuck when it came to the difference between slogans and taglines. I don’t want to finish the post still being unsure about the pureness of data [like most publishers of such posts did], so I just want to put it as it is for you to finish it and give it a professional and genuine looks.

So here it is, to the point where I got stuck, with pictures and text and the most famous brands already pre-selected.

Use it as you want, just let me know where it will appear, I am just curious. Read more »

Difference Between a “Tagline” and a “Slogan”

I was making a research on taglines of the most famous brands, willing to share the interesting stories behind those, but you know what I faced? The language problem [or misunderstanding of terms]. It’s all over the web.

So much info out there on taglines and slogans and it all mixed up into a big pool of misleading articles. I almost broke my legs while walking on those fields of misused English!!!

Do a Google search on “tagline” and then do it on “slogans”, you will come up with almost the same results. And most of the information is written as if tagline and slogan are synonyms. Damn!

So, I want to clarify the terms here. Read more »

Color Theory: Reference Table for Designers

I remember I posted an article on color meanings long time ago [ Logo Colors: Use Responsibly] and recently I’ve stumbled on to a nice quick reference table for designers and wanna share it with you. Designed by Paper Leaf Design, this table is a must-have tool for any designer.

Why? Because every color has a meaning, a term, a code, you name it. And when you’re applying a color you have to be careful and responsible for your choise. Using proper color is very important in any design. For example, red color means – fire, danger, love, passion, intense, hyper and so on; blue – means sky, depth, masculine, trust… It’s a very interesting field.

Sometimes we don’t recognize amazing things right under our noses, like color meanings here. Usually taken for granted, colors do mean something.

So here’s the table. Save it. Use it. Read more »
